The latest formula was designed for more control when skating rougher DIY spots and tricky street terrain. This means a smoother roll. 97A is considered a softer wheel in the modern skateboarding scene. They are still very hard but with the edge taken off. The 97A formula will provide a little more grip on super smooth surfaces and is a little more forgiving to ride on rougher surfaces.
